KC approval

Korean the Radio Laws & Regulations about Broadcasting and Communication Equipments was changed as shown below. Accordingly the certification mark also MIC> KCC> KC has been replaced by!

Real difference

Comparing to the before one, not only some appropriate tests about intentional emission radio equipments, but also additional EMC section including EMI, EMS, etc. should be certified.

The modular approval

There was a section of “modular type approval” in the rules & regulations in the last one. But, it was very unclear to apply the real usages. But, in this amendment, it is nearly same as one from FCC & CE. However, I’ll write a few QNA that you may want to know exactly.

Q: Once you receive a certification as a module from Korean RRA, if you would like to develop a finished product based on that module, should I take a type approval about the finished one again?

A: Yes! Korean type approval regulations must apply only a finished product. However, if you are using some modules that are type approved, some tests could be just exempted.

Q: I would like to integrate a type-approved product (maybe a modem) into our new product. cosmetically our new product embeds that type-approved product. In this case, should I take a type approval about our new product again?

A: In this case, it sounds very vogue! Upon our experiences, yes! You should take a type approval about your new product again. Also some tests regarding that radio modem could be just exempted. Thus, I recommend that do not integrate a type-approved product into your one cosmetically. It’s quite different from one of FCC, CE!
